Video camera with audio problem

I’m afraid I might not have enough information to get an answer on this, but I’ll give it a try.
My neighbor has a JBL video camera he bought at Sharper Image. He asked if it would work with him Mac, they said yes, but it didn’t. Instead of returning it, he went to the local Apple store and bought software to make it work. He doesn’t remember the name of the software :rolleyes:
The problem is, when he hooks the camera to the TV, it works fine, but when he downloads to iMovie, he has no audio.
Any thoughts?
Sorry about so little information, he’s not the sharpest shovel in the shed. I tried to dig more information from him, but this was all he had.

A quick look at my copy of iMovie found this warning:

@Apple iMovie Help

iMovie only imports the video portion of movies in “MPEG1 Muxed” format. When you import this format into an iMovie 3 project, the imported clip has video but does not have audio when you play it in iMovie or when you export your iMovie project to QuickTime or iDVD.

To see if your imported movie file is in MPEG1 Muxed format:

1 Open the original movie file in QuickTime Player.
2 Choose Window > Show Movie Info.
3 Click More Info in the Movie Info window (if necessary) to see the movie format.

Sounds like this is the problem to me.

Of couse I have another question. If the camera is making the movie in MPEG1 Muxed, how does he change that?
How does he fix the original movie?
