Video clips that won't fast forward?

I have some video clips that will not let you fastforward or move forward in the video at all. is there a way to fix this? thankz

The problem is due to the way the file was originally indexed by the recording codex. The file was recorded with a codec intended for streaming web media, so the position slider is disabled. The workaround I’ve used (in WinXP) is running “mplayer2.exe” instead of the default Media Player. This is an older version of Windows Media Player, and should be located somewhere on your machine. Search your C: drive for it and double-click it in the directory listing to run. This works most of the time, but not always. You can also use certain video editing programs to convert the file into one that can be freely fast-forwarded. Here is some more information. (Warning: While that site is above-board, some of the individual posts in that thread may be less than work-safe.)

Some clips won’t fast forward until they are fully downloaded. Until then, they are in “streaming” mode. That’s why some clips won’t fast forward the first time you play them, but if you replay the clip in the same window, the fast forward feature works.

Plus the stuff written above too.
