Video Crashes XP and SuSe

Ok I updated to XP(2). Previously used 2000. Install goes without a hitch. However whenever I try to play a video, XP either freezes or restarts. Tried using SuSe, same problem. Didn’t have it with 2000.

Tried different players, ALL freeze. Tried different formats; DVD, VCD, megs, avi, from the harddrive, from the CD/DVD drives, from online. ALL freezes. Other than that, the machine works better than ever.

Setup is:
Soyo Ultra Dragon Platinum KT333. Via chipset.
512 megs of Mushkin Ram
LG CD burner
LG DVD-Rom
4 harddrives
promise ATA card
Linksys Wireless card
Nvidia FX5200
Pinnacle Studio Deluxe (8)
500 W power supply
All drivers are current…am stumped. The SuSe surprised me, seems to point to a hardware problem…but everything seems to work in second “test” machine…maybe RAM problem?

suggestions helpful.

I had the NVidia FX5200 in my computer and it kept crashing too. In WinXP and Slackware. Aparently they kind of suck arse, but I didn’t want to spend the time figuring out what was wrong. Got it sitting on my shelf now so if anybody can tell you how to make it work properly, I might try it too.

What card are you using now…?

I put in my old RivaTNT2 and gave up on getting Start Wars KOTR working.
