Say I want to create a video game remix using copyrighted samples and melodies from a currently available video game, and then release the final remix into the public domain as a free download.
Am I breaking copyright for the sampled material? My first impression would be yes, but it seems there are many different remix websites operating that are not being sued by Nintendo, Sony, etc.
