Videogames: Riven 3 - opinions?

      • I saw this in a store a few days back for ~$40, and since it probably started out at ~$50 that means it is already being discounted, and will hit the bargain racks eventually. Mom got a kick out of the first two, is the third one comparable? (-I know this type of game hardly lends itself to actual excitement, but at least it looks interesting for a while) And I ask, is it done in actual 3-D modeling or is it still just images like the first two? - MC

Actually, I think it is called Myst 3:Exile.

I haven’t played it, but I think you can move around 360 degrees and everything. It’s not 3d like Quake, though(now that would be amazing!).

I strongly suggest you read this thread and check out the sites I linked to. The game has its bugs.

To answer your question, Myst 3 has the “free-look” feature-- you look in the direction you move your mouse, but your mouse always stays in the middle of your view, if that makes sense. It’s neat; I wish they’d re-release Riven with that feature.
