I can understand the guy feeling like he does. I don’t agree, but that’s OK.
I can even understand taking that action. Again, I don’t agree, but I can understand. Even Jane is willing to give him a pass on that.
But this:
If it was a debt of honor, and you’re proud of it, and you think a lot of veterans would love it…why the fuck did you run like you just stole her purse?
That is the least of all the stupidity in her life. Focus on the ‘manning the AAA gun’ part; it would be like yucking it up with Al Zarqawi’s goons, playing with a car bomb or something.
I am not defending Ms Fonda for what she did lo, those many, MANY years ago, and I ceratinly don’t wish to be seen agreeing with Mr Moto , but what do you expect from a total twit at any age? And trust me, my conservative friends, most of us liberals distanced ourselves as far from that stupid cunt as we could.
Seeing what Mr Smith did I am glad to know that, while I get mad quickly, I can’t hold a grudge for thirty minutes, much less thirty years. To hold that anger in, letting it grow and fester for so long, must have been difficult. I hope he didn’t let it take over his life.
But running like a little girl afterwards, I mean, what was he thinking?
An autobiograpy release, but yeah, I see your point. But what better time to apologize than when all eyes are upon you? Though for some reason it didn’t affect her exercise videos years ago.
I mean, if I apologized to you for one of the insults I’ve hurled in your general direction - is it more of an apology when I bury it in a thread about the Brewers, or when I say it in a thread about how Brutus sucks, but my throwing beanballs at him was unfair, even though he still sucks. Get my point?
All this talk about the “enemy” makes me wonder if any of you know what the war was about. Vietnam was not our enemy, they didn’t attack us, they weren’t trying to take away our freedom, we were over there in their country shooting at them and bombing them.
None of this should reflect badly on the vets, however, they were just doing their job. Jane Fonda was trying to end the war and stop people on both sides from being killed. She might have been more effective if she had two brain lobes to rub together.
That’s just fucking stupid. Of course she has the right to have her opinions and express them. The vitriol heaped upon her isn’t because she exercised her freedom of speech it’s because of the way she decided to exercise it. Following your inane logic doesn’t freedom of speech apply to those who disagree with her and heap vitriol upon her?
The Viet Cong was just trying to end the war too. Ms. Fonda might have been more effective if, say, she had actually protested the government’s instigation of the war instead of supporting the people who were trying to kill the vets who were just doing their job.
This phenomenon of people masquerading as Vietnam vets is quite widespread. They found one of these guys who was very active in a local group-he turned out to have been 12 years old, at the time of the end of the Vietnam War.
Must be a repressed desire to walk around in jungle fatigues, or too many times watching war movies!
No, actually, she hasn’t. At least, not to my way of thinking. She’s done some publicity interviews where she did a lot of whining, but none of it was a sincere apology for anything she did.
And why is it an issue in the first place for this guy spitting on her? I mean, it was perfectly acceptable for Fonda and her ilk to spit on soldiers coming back from ‘Nam, right? Why should she complain when someone followed her own playbook? Just askin’…
Protesting the actions of the government can be a deeply patriotic act, as in Thoreau’s refusal to pay his poll tax in protest of the Mexican War. But giving aid to the enemy and posing for cheesecake photos on the weapons that slaughter your countrymen is quite another.
OYOH, I would like to see her assailant’s military record; something about him is setting off my my “faker” alert. Saying that there were people lined up at LAX to spit on the troops coming out of the jetway? No way that ever happened or that airport security would allow it.
Speaking of short busses, good God, look at that expression! Do you think they airbrushed out the drool dripping from her chin?
Please note that this is not intended a commentary on our many stupid brothers and sisters who would STILL not do what Fonda did. And trust these words of sad experience, it’s embarassing when a retarded person points out, accurately, that one of your actions was, “a pretty dumb thing to do.”
