I guess it’s a done deal…looks like he’ll own the WCW and play up a whole new saga where his son “owns” the rival league now.
How will this play out in the long run?
Any WWF or WCWE fans with an opinion or idea of what to expect?

I sincerely hope that only good will come of this.
If he uses the WCW’s cruiserweight division to its full capacity, he really has a good base to stand on. I don’t want to see stars jumping back and forward all the time, because that would just suck. They might as well make one big federation if they want to do that.
It could be good. Eliminate the deadwood from both federations and you would see a lot more superstars reaching their full potential.
Keeping seperate booking teams would be a good Idea also.
What is interesting though, is where Jerry Lawler is going to fit in…
Speaking of deadwood, McMahon’s first action should be to sideline Hogan and Flair. Yes, I know that Flair still gets a huge pop whether he’s a face or heel, but keeping him active just adds life to the “over-the-hill” wrestlers.
Second thing he should do is give Goldberg a huge push. I’ve been a Goldberg mark from the get-go.
Third, cut Nash’s hair! He looks like a damn girl (admittedly a really big, ugly girl).
I think that the combo of the two federations could work if done right. I think it’s a good move to have the whole WWF vs. WCW (Vince vs. Shane) storyline at the beginning. Lots of opportunities to develop rivalries, new alligences, and good matches.
“Vince McMahon is a Freakin’ Nut!”
This also just in …
The sky is blue!
Water is wet!
Film at 11.
Does anyone else out there think the WCW made out like a bandit on this?
Because I sure do.
With all the over-the-top stuff they’re pulling these days on these ‘shows’, it’s getting to the point of being beyond ridiculous. It’s sadly comical.
Now would make the best time to sell out. Get the most and run. Because, personally, I think the bottom’s going to drop out of all this wrestling madness toot-sweet.
Just a thought.
I gotta agree with Cnote, here. While I think the suggestions that I made in my last post would improve the overall quality, I don’t think it’ll make much difference in viewership in the end. I see professional wrestling waning in popularity (like it has done in the past).
It’s “tout de suite”. French for right away or right now.
Carry on.
But, even when his nuttiness seems normal, he one-ups himself.
This is bizzare even on the Vince McMahon Scale o’ Wackiness.
Damn, you’d figure that while watching the XFL collapse that he’d be happy to see the WCW flounder and go down the drain. His WWF would be way more valuable, and he’d get to offer contracts to the hot WCW stars.
Does buying them make sense? Was he afraid someone else would revive them and become a challenge? I thought that scenario was so unlikely that it would never justify him buying them.
Wrestling aside, was this good biz?
I think he was vaguely referencing Col. Potter from MAS*H, who would say “toot-sweet” and “oh-revohrs”.
Carry on.
Me and Blur have discussed this-I didn’t think it’d happen.
IMHO the best way to do it is:
Keep the federations seperate and distinct.
Roster cuts on both sides to elimate deadwood.
Occasional intra-fed ppv’s. Matches like Goldberg vs. Austin,Booker T. vs. the Rock,APA vs. Kronik,Hardy Boyz vs. 3 Count…you get the general idea.
Change the airing schedule to something like:
Monday night-Raw
Tuesday-Nitro
Wednesday-Smackdown
Thursday-Thunder
Mondays would drive me nuts trying to flip back and forth!
(thanks for the idea Blur:) ) I get an Evening Gown/Tuxedo match w/ Jeff Hardy.
I’m surprised no one has heard that term used before.
I can’t pinpoint or reference where I first learned it (My interpretation- Very fast, quick.), because I’ve heard it used since I was a kid.
I thought it was a general term. The idea that it might be a variation of “tout de suite” would be cool, if it’s true.
Ok… let me clear something up.
Goldberg is a sloppy wrestler. I would not have him in any federation, because he is way too dangerous. His finishing move is way too sloppy.
They should fire everyone from WCW and just have Lita posing. mmmmmm
He’s off to exactly the right start. The angle they’re playing with Shane is, in a word, superb. Because first of all, he’s handing his new acquisition off to the one mind in the pro wrestling business that’s as talented as his. Shane is just as brilliant as his father (and yes, ladies and gents, I’m aware wrestling is fake; but Shane McMahon’s running the company is not a work; he really is in charge over there). WWF NY, Triple H marrying Stephanie, Steve Blackman’s run as Hardcore champ … all Shane’s ideas.
They’ll need to buy about eight weeks’ time to organize things in WCW. Get Nitro a timeslot on TNN, decide who stays and who goes, find a new announce team (Joey Schiavone and Scott Hudson are gone, gone, gone), and perform other housekeeping duties. During that time, they stretch out the Vince/Shane feud. Maybe at Wrestlemania or a Raw or something, have Vince put Shane out of commission for a while. Shane drops out of sight for a few weeks till everything’s ready. Then you hold some kind of WCW invasion (ideally at a PPV) and an interfed feud begins. But it’d have to be complicated, with a lot of intrigue and espionage, that kind of thing. Vince and Shane should never be able to know for sure who they can trust. Otherwise, it just becomes a situation where everyone in WWF is a heel and everyone in WCW is a face (or vice versa, depending on how it’s worked).
I personally think that pro wrestling is about to begin another renaissance thanks to the man who invented Attitude and redefined the industry. Vince McMahon is, in my opinion, the most brilliant business mind of the past decade, and he’s going to continue to outdo himself.
The only question that remains: will Shane prove himself as adept as the old man? Only time will tell.

Vince McMahon for President!
Shane is only running the WCW in story lines, he will be assisted by his father IRL.
Really smart guy, Shane. Very brave too. Well, you’d have to be to get into the ring with Steve Blackman at a PPV and take a 35ft bump off stage rigging, followed closely by Steve himself.
What do yoyu all think about the Gimmick Battle Royal at WM X-7?
I can’t wait for the Gimmick Battle Royal but I would really like it if some of the current WWF stars reprised their bad gimmicks.
Just imagine:
Billy Gunn as Rockabilly
Hardcore Holly as Sparky PLugg
Rikishi as the Sultan
Kane as Dr Isaac Yankum
I wouldn’t get too jazzed up about the brilliance of Shane.
I’m not about to give too much credit to anybody writing parts of already incredibly succesful soap operas. Shane might have done good with some suggestions, but that hardly merits running a huge enterprise.
I’m starting to understand the potential of “rival” leagues and intra-league matches. Certainly gives a shot in the arm to the biz.
I’m sorry, but Vince McMahon is the boss and owner of both leagues. He is wise to keep Shane involved, and if Shane is the boss at WCW, it’s low risk for hands-on McMahon.
McMahon has got to get himself in a situation where some key WCW stars kick his butt, take hostages and all that good stuff, with the WWF stars coming to the rescue. How long can all this go on!? At some point, it’ll play itself out and then what?
On the “final” nitro, Someone had this sign in the audience:
“Vince – First the XFL, now WCW? You’re a Dumbasss.”
I nearly choked on my drink.
This could go either way. But I agree with the above thoughts – No matter how well done this is, the rasslin popularity is on the decline.
And I concur with ToF. I’d watch a two hour show on Lita over Nitro anytime.
