I’m putting in a new bathroom floor and the vinyl I’m using can be put down with tape or adhesive. This is a floor to ceiling rehab so everything including the walls will be new.
Does the tape work? It would save a tremendous amount of time.

The last flooring guy at my house said he never trusted anything other than adhesive (he was installing the peel & stick ones at my old house with adhesive).
How’s that for a data point?
I would think that with tape, since you are doubling the number of mating surfaces, you double the chance of failure.
Use adhesive. No question.
What will give you the least amount of trouble if you have to change the flooring again? You might be the one having to scape away the adhesive.
(but maybe there’s a underfloor you can put the adhesive on and throw out later?)
Thanks all. I went with the adhesive. When all is said and done it isn’t that much more work and I just couldn’t believe the tape would hold.
I know you already went the adhesive route but I just wanted to add that I did the tape on a bathroom once and had all kinds of trouble with the tiles eventually coming up, especially in areas near the tub where moisture would get between the tiles. Good call on using the adhesive instead!
You might want to run a bead of silicon sealer at the edge of the tub/shower and a few fet down the walls beside them.
