The inground pool in our new house has a rotten liner. I’ve been looking at the itnernet and reading up on measuring and ording and installing a new liner.
Is there anybody out there who has done this or does this and has advice to offer?

Get sand. Lots of it. You’ll need to pile it up in a sort of a ramp shape around the perimeter inside the pool before you install a new liner, as well as spread a layer across the whole area of the pool, and smooth it out with a board to make it nice and flat. Often the sand that was originally placed gets washed out from under the pool, and replacing it ensures the new liner will not bulge out and possibly burst. make sure the height of the new liner is at least a foot or more above the height of the pool, so you’ll have plenty to fold over the top edge. Once you’ve filled the pool, you can trim off most of the excess, leaving about one to two inches.
QED. This would be for an inground pool.
Oh, right. I can read, really! I hear the term “liner” in reference to a pool, and I immediately think of an aboveground one. Sorry.
