Virtually impossible, but real, places you'd like to live

I would dig up one of those plans for my secret mansion I made when I was a kid (you made them too) and build that.

There are hundreds of spiral galaxies visible from right here on earth!

Oh! They’re going to be throwing out the obsolete metro trains in the next several years. Would love to buy about three of the cars and weld them together to make a living space.

I want to live in a zeppelin, too! That would be just nifty. I think I’d cruise at about 100,000 feet (where the sky begins to darken beautifully to a sort of rich purplish color) and come down for emergencies only. The zeppelin’d have one of those little biplanes tethered to it, like Indiana Jones, so if I wanted to go for a spin, I could. But I’d stay up there with my friends and have a ball cruising the world. Avoiding no-fly zones, of course, since a mile-long zeppelin is both a vulnerable and very easy-to-hit target.

I’d have to be insanely rich for this to happen, and that’s a virtual impossibility for me.

Or how about some old railroad cars? That’d be pretty sweet.

Stonehenge

Chartres, or any other medieval cathedral

The medieval division of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (it’s housed in a separate building from the main collection)

The Beineke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale

Inside a Coca Cola can :dubious:

Hey, me too! But I’d raise those hairy highland cattle that are so common up there.

Or maybe I’d live in a renovated dwelling in Skara Brae.

Or maybe on one of those islands off the southwestern coast of Ireland where people used to exile themselves to when they wanted to practice “white martyrdom.”

I’d love to live in the Dakota building

The Martello Tower.

Billy Pitt had them built when the French were on the sea. But ours is the omphalos.

I would LOVE to live in Piers Anthony’s world of Xanth.

“In Xanadu did Kublai Khan a stately pleasure dome decree”

In the Hearst Mansion in California. THAT would be a really cool place to live. Or in Tombstone, Arizona, or Old Tuscon. That would be pretty cool too.

Tahiti, but without all the development that has taken place

A gigantic floating palace, suspended in the upper atmosphere of Jupiter, right over the Great Red Spot.

With a balcony that I can urinate from every morning.
