Virus/Malware Removal Guide for Windows

BTW, I just solved my own problem: MSE won’t run in sleep mode.

Q

And I forgot to say, “thanks” , Brian12, for the recommendations!

Bill

Hi Bill,

Because my guide is copyrighted. Also, the instructions are frequently updated.

I would rather you direct people to my guide or the PDF version, which you can download for free. It’s under the title.

Brian

Okay, I didn’t know that, sorry!

If you had that warning on the site, I didn’t see it, and if it’s supposed to be understood, I guess I didn’t understand it! :);), but again, my apologies and thanks for the help.

Damn dementia does come in handy at times.

Dear Sirs:

In keeping with your 30 day satisfaction guarantee, I am hereby requesting a refund of $12.97. The reference number is : xxxxxxxx, and the license is as follows: License Code:xxxx-xxxx-xx-xxxx

It has been alleged that iobit is using proprietary database and intellectual property into your database which belongs to Malwarebytes and I’m afraid I cannot use your service under those conditions. I have no problems with the service itself, but the business ethics leave much to be desired.

Please refund the money to my PayPal account.

Thanks

Good job, Bill.

I guess it’s tough to sue an entity based in China, right?

I read that whole thread, and I never once saw an answer from iobit, Brian.

Q

I just have to comment that this first name business is creepy.

OP - Unless the person uses their first name regularly while posting (like Quasi/Bill), digging through their profile to find their name and then using it to address them is a bit off putting. Better to address people here by their user name. Just a friendly suggestion if you plan on sticking around after drumming up traffic for your website.

My first name isn’t in my profile on the SDMB. Now, my first name isn’t a secret, and you can easily find it (as I assume you just did) by following the Twitter link in my profile. But as has already been pointed out, this is not normal practice on this board and makes you seem creepy. In my opinion.

Your 1st (and last) name appears in your contact info as part of your email address (just fyi in case you want to clamp that down).

Mangetout’s name requires going to his personal webpage and reading his “About Me” page. Not difficult, but way more steps than someone should take as a normal course of board behavior.

Also, his website may be legit and not contain any harmful links, but isn’t it obvious that he’s trying to build up his viewer numbers on a personal page (probably to make it more attractive to advertisers or to monetize it in some other way.)

Threads like this have been locked or deleted many times in the past (right, Quasi?).

I don’t like when people don’t use their real name, so I try to find it out myself.

If you makes you happy to believe that I am a stalker, knock yourself out, but I am not interested in stalking anyone.

Brian

Brian12: The culture at this forum is that you use people’s chosen usernames, not track down their real names through however many steps it takes. I recommend that you go by what people here prefer, not by what you yourself prefer.

Thanks,

twickster, MPSIMS moderator

Appreciated, although 1) I don’t mind if people know my name; I just find it creepy for someone to go hunting it down in my profile info so they can use it in threads, and 2) for all the OP knows, that could have been my husband’s account or something. (It is not my husband’s account. )

Hi twickster,

Okay. I understand.

Yep. Still trying to put it behind me, and there’s a big warning to myself sticking on the monitor.:).

Regarding the “culture” of the site: I find I have to agree we should use the person’s chosen nick unless they, themselves, choose not to do that. I am one of those folks and one doesn’t have to be an Amazing Kreskin (remember him?;)) to figure out when and why I do it.

I’ve removed all of the links and I’m closing this thread. You may mean well, Brian, but you are definitely spamming your own links and that’s against the rules here.

From the TOS:

Not to mention, you’ve posted this exact thread on many other message boards, apparently…that’s pretty much the definition of spam. Please don’t post any of these links again.
