I live in Germany. I have a VISA Card that I “lost” (meaning that it disappeared until I had canceled it and received my new one). The old card is disabled, as in stripe-readers reject it. The newly issued card has EXACTLY the same name, number, and expiration.
The Question is :

WHY can I not use this card to charge my subscription to the SDMB?!?!
If the card number and expiration date are exactly the same as the card you reported lost/stolen, then the card you have in hand is a lost/stolen card. I assume you’ve called the credit card company about this? What did they tell you?
Check the 3-digit security code on the back of the card (it’s probably in the signature stripe). That’s probably what’s changed between your good card and your “lost” card. If you have to enter that code to subscribe (I wouldn’t know) that could be what’s preventing the subscription. Grab the good card and give it a try.
