visiting space coast

I’m currently on assignment in Jacksonville and my wife is going to fly out weekend after next to spend a little time with me. I’ll have possibly an extra day free so I may head down to Cape Canaveral to see the space center. I know a shuttle launch day would be nuts but the free day I have is also the day the shuttle is scheduled to land there. Would that be a good day to visit or would it be more of a hassle?

Don’t know about visiting on a landing day, but watch out for the birds if you get a hot dog.

GO. Even if there is hassle, it will be well worth it if you have never been there. The Space Center is AWESOME.

I lived on that coast for a few years.

You may also want to check out St.Augustine which is nice and/or Daytona Beach.
The drive between the two on A1A is very scenic.

If your going to the space coast also check out Port Canaveral for some good cheap seafood, orange groves on merritt island, and the tacky-touristy RonJon’s Surfshop in Cocoa Beach.
If you want to do something really cool take an airboat ride. See some gators and bald eagles.
I’d avoid Orlando this time of year. Too hot and crowded.
