Viva Mayor Villaraigosa!

Los Angeles mayoral elections were today, and it looks like Antonio Villaraigosa has it sewn up!

Four years ago, he ran against James Hahn and lost. I voted for him, mainly because I think LA needs Latino representation. I was pretty ticked off when Hahn won, especially since they cut into Jay Leno to broadcast Hahn’s victory speech. Hugh Jackman was the guest, which was the only reason I was watching, so I had to be frustrated on two levels while the interruption went on. and on. and on. But luckily, the affiliate resumed Leno at the point where they’d left off.

Anyway, so we have a new mayor! Woohoo! (And yes, I know he failed the bar exam multiple times. SFW.)

This morning on NPR they said something like “Los Angeles is now the largest city headed by a Latino mayor”. Well, gee, I think that makes a smidge of sense. Maybe? There might be a couple Latinos living in LA, after all!

I’m just surprised it’s taken so long.

I’m pretty sure that Mexico City is the largest city headed by a Latino mayor.

I’m pretty sure you know what I meant, dorkface!
