So…as my health condition progresses, I have taken to listening to vocal isolation tracks from some of my favorite artists. The ones that are dead make me feel like I am listening to a voice from the grave, since minus their band’s accompaniment they sound so…alone and stark. Some retain vocal harmonies and production values, but many are just dry takes, and I love them. It’s like they’re naked.
I have a few favorites so far but am eager to hear others. Please post them!
Layne Staley (lots of long pauses and studio reverb): Layne Staley - Would [Only Vocals] - YouTube
Freddie Mercury and Bowie “Under Pressure”: - YouTube
Space Oddity: David Bowie - Space Oddity (Lead Vocal Track) - YouTube
Ziggy Stardust: David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust (Vocal Track) - YouTube
Pearl Jam “Black” (how my bitter hands, cradle broken glass): Pearl Jam - Black [vocals only (+)] - YouTube
“Somebody I Used To Know” (I know, I know, played everywhere for a million seconds, but the a capella version is hauntingly beautiful. Better than the original, IMO): Somebody I Used To Know - Studio Acapella / Vocal Only Track - YouTube
Foo Fighters (some guitars): - YouTube
System Of A Down (vocals take awhile): System Of A Down Chop Suey(Vocal) - YouTube
