After towing a badly mashed Super Beetle into the shop, the owner gave us the title to settle the towing bill. I haggled with the Boss to obtain carcass picking rights. The bent Bug was quickly stripped of everything usable.
Large taillights, large turn signals, a generator that produced usable electricity-I was in fat city! The only thing I couldn’t change was the starter, but when you hit a 6 volt starter with 12, it cranks fast!! I could finally have FM music in my hybrid Beetle!
Alas, after 200K miles, I sold the stalwart air-cooled steed, and went on to other German iron horses. Ugly red Beetle was snif my first and only.
