Volvo C70 with accident on Carfax

Shopping for the wife’s new(er) car. Want is a hardtop convertible (moving to Hawaii:D later this year - lots of small scale vehicle crime), safe, 4 seats so the small grandchildren/great grandchildren can ride. (Market is the C70 or BMW 328i - forget the EOS (major leaker) and Pontiac G6 (quality, room)).

Found a really nice 2008 C70, <11,000 miles. Nice options. Rode and drove well. No sign of paint mismatch, wheel damage, just like brand new. Accident reported at 7k miles back on 4 July 2010. “Right side damage, towed”, in the comments for the incident. Nothing reported as structural.

Unfortunately, the car is 140 miles away (Dallas) and I don’t know anyone who does damage/structural inspection there.

Price is okay and the driving experience was fine.

Any suggestions; pass it by, ask dealer to take to independant mechanic, other?

There are 2 big red flags in your post. The obvious one is the accident. The second is that they disposed (or are in the process of disposing) of the car with less than 11,000 miles on it…I wonder why???

Car fax does not tell you anything about the accident other than towed? Doesn’t it tell you if the airbags were deployed?

I’d keep looking and buy something you have complete confidence in.

Nothing about air bag deployment in the Carfax and I believe that would have been included.

Car was alway going to be low mileage it seems - Car (2008 C70) was bought in 2007 and by the time of the accident 7/4/2010 had only 7000 miles (~3000 miles per year).

It was a trade-in to a Ford dealer who resold it to a sister (same owner) Volvo dealer.

I may have a friend near the area bring it to his mechanic and check out.

Thanks for the reply.
