Volvo owners! I need help.

Volvo-loving dopers:

My 1998 s70 is rapidly approaching 100,000 miles (whee) and I need to get all my scheduled maintenance taken care of.

I’ve lost my maintenance book, though. I have my manual, but it only covers up to 60,000 miles.

I’m looking for someone who owns a 1998 s or v70 that would be willing to convey the 90,000 mile maintenance schedule to me or a site where I could find it. Googling gave me a bunch of “buy my volvo, follow volvo maintenance” stuff, but no listing of what I need.

According to the dealer, it’ll take 2 days and $1200 minimum to get it fixed. I get a loaner, but I don’t really have $1200 to spend on my car. I suspect there are some other problems with the suspension and the timing, so that total is a bare minimum.

If anyone has this info but doesn’t feel comfortable putting it here (copyright or what have you) my email is in my profile.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t have a Volvo myself, but I’m a pro at finding obscurish car information on the internet.

This site looks helpful as well: http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/information-850-70.htm

there are two ways you can get the factory scheduled maintenance schedule. Assuming that you are in North America, you can call 1-800 VOLVO (thats ohs(6) not ZEROS) and purchase a new maintence book so you can have it stamped and keep a record of your services. Kinda spendy but your call.
The other thing you can do is send me an e-mail (addy in profile) and I will be happy to look it up and list it all for you. (Put SDMB in message tittle please)
Be aware that one particular dealer may do slightly more or less that what the factory recomonds. As in most things YMMV

Thanks to Rick and No Disguise, I was able to tell my parent’s very trusted mechanic all the stuff I need done. He’s got a Volvo certified mech at his shop who is going to do everything for me on Wednesday.

The cost: $424. This includes and oil change, radiator flush and coolant flush.

Goodyear in Blue Springs Missouri. I love thee.

Though, I was looking forward to the loaner. They always loan out really nice cars (my current one was a loaner that my mom got when she had her old Volvo in for maintenance and she just traded in the old one for this one). My last loaner was a zippy little C40 (convertible) turbo.

I guess saving $800 is worth it.

Heck, if you feel guilty about having saved $800, call these guys: http://www.exoticrentals.net/

They’ll be happy to placate your money-saving guilt by letting you part with up to $3599 a day renting this monster .

Turns out the whole repair cost $1500.

That’s for the other stuff they found wrong, that I knew was wrong but had been in denial about.

I can’t even imagine how much it would’ve been at the dealership…

The part that cost me $400 at Goodyear, would have cost me $1200 at the dealer.
So, three times as much would have been what, $4500?

Keeeeriiiiist.
