Voodoo Drivers

I’ve been trying to play one of the newer computer games out there which requires a Directx 8 compitable 3d card. The problem is, I have a Voodoo 3(yes, I know it’s old. I’m broke) which is no longer supported and thus is not Directx 8 captiable. Does anyone out there know of any good and stable Directx 8 compatible Voodoo 3 drivers.

I am running Windows 98.

I swear, when I first read this thread title my first thought was of Haitian guys driving around in big black cars … pounding away on their drums …

Oh, never mind.

Heh. The thread title gave me a *great *mental image.

I’m rather sure that DirectX compatability is hardware dependant. If your hardware is not DirectX 8 compatible, no drivers will help you.

Atleast this is true of the newer generation cards and Direct x 9.

Voodoo Files has the Dx8 driver file. I have two computers with Voodoo3 and running Dx8 I use them because of some older games that use Glide and you can’t beat them for that. The problem your going to come across is that the drivers aren’t compatable with Dx9. From what I had last heard it seems Dx9 is going to be the death of Voodoo.

And don’t think that upgrading to WinXP will help you, I’m running that on my box with a Voodoo3 card and I’ve got the same problem. Actually, it’s worse, since the XP drivers don’t seem to work very well from what I’ve been able to gather.

Tuckerfan the drivers on the site I linked to should be fine. I’ve been using XP for at least three years without a problem.
