Vote for Clinton again?

Vote for a theoretical third term for Clinton if you’d like, but please don’t do it because the economy has been going well. He has had remarkably little to do with that.

Clinton rode the tidal wave created by the technology explosion - PCs, the Internet and everything else. He deserves credit for incredibly fortuitous timing and little more.

This is not a partisan viewpoint, either. The Republican-led Congress also deserves virtually none of the credit for the healthy economy. I guess they can all pat themselves on the back for not doing anything horifically stupid to derail it.

Uh, no it isn’t.

Perjury is not just any false statement under oath. It is a false staement under oath concerning a matter material to the case at hand. Unless Clinton’s testimony regarding Monica Lewinsky was material to the Paula Jones case (and I would argue that it was not), then it is not perjury (even if the testimony was false).

Milossarian- Funny how some folks rush to blame a Democratic President if the economy goes sour (see Jimmy Carter), but give a Democratic President no credit when the economy goes well (see Clinton).

Put a Republican in office, and my, how things change. Reagan gets all sorts of praise from Republicans as some sort of economic wizard (never mind that his tax cuts and military spending drove us into a dept hole of debt that we are still struggling to pay).

Oh yeah, and here’s how Clinton has boosted the economy:

His refusal to cave into Republican demands for wild tax cuts for the wealthy (remember the government shut-down, and the ultimate capitulation of the Republicans), and his insistence that the surplus be spent not on tax cuts, but on paying down the national debt, has had the effect of dampening inflation. Low inflation=low interest rates=easy loans=plenty of investment capital=booming housing market and booming stock markets.

Don’t tell me not to give the guy any credit. I know better.

stuffinb - I’m not here to defend Reagan, we’re discussing Clinton and his abuse of power. The executive orders he has passed (on several occasions) have been specifically to get around Congress, on issues he knew he could not get agreement. I don’t condone this of any president, whether he happens to represent my view or not.

Clinton just did it again - read Executive Order 13166 - doing away with English as the Language of Governement, and making sure that services will be available in 'other’languages. This means we do not expect people who immigrate to this country to learn the language. Total BS, and he went around Congress to do it. No, I would not vote for Clinton.

The point Im making is that you’re condemning him for the same actions other presidents have done. We weren’t in a war during the Reagan presidency so there was no particular reason why he should have been subverting Congress either.

As for the English thing. I in particular don’t have a problem with making forms availible in other langaunges besides english. But that’s just my opinion. In addition I don’t read that the same as you do. I think any calls to make an official languange is just being xenophobic. Again that’s my opinion you may of course disagree.

I don’t have a problem with the language thing either. If I can’t understand the guy in the local 7-11, I simply point and hold up the appropriate number of fingers.
As a matter of fact, I enjoy the sound of other languages.
They do have forms in english, fer crissakes.
Peace,
mangeorge
BTW; The thing I had most problem with Clinton was his back-peddaling on the equality for gays issues.
Wimp.
