Voting in space

Once the space station starts taking people for months at a time, and an election rolls around, how will they vote? Will they vote months ahead of time before they leave for the station? Or is there some electronic way figured out. I guess this question would apply to people of all the nationalities that are going to inhabit the station.

I assume that you would vote the same way you would if going to a foreign country: via absentee ballot. The astronauts would vote before they left the planet.

Maybe they could fax in their absentee ballots?

Texas is the only state that allows (or provided a mechism) for voting in space. One of our astronauts used that right while aboard the mir station. The vote was sent by email (to who? don’t know)

Of course, most U. S. astronauts move to Texas, anyway, so Texas’ rule is probably sufficient for the nonce.
