well, german was a bad example because “german” actually means a ton of stuff.
but, you got a place like “France” say. The adjective form is “French” and the people are Frenchmen. You don’t have France toast. you have french toast. France is fine.
But, you take “Canada” and you could say “he’s a Canadian” but you also got “canadian bacon”.
You also got the Zionist movement or, “he’s a Zionist”. It might even be capiltalized in those cases but I don’t know if that necessarily makes it a proper noun.
