Voyage of the Dawn Treader film is on again.

After Disney pulled out of film series, it looked bleak. However, another studio has come in and rescued the series.

I’m glad. I actually liked Prince Caspian *more *than the first film, so I hope they can continue to improve.

Cool, maybe there will be more sex in this version.

Uh, like between Reepicheep and Eustace or something?

I really liked the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe but I was mildly disapointed in Prince Caspian. It was decent, but there were a couple things that just didn’t seem right.

For instance, when the Narnians assault the Telmarine castle, then retreat because they couldn’t win. How could you not win a battle when you have minutaurs and leopards on your side? Sure, a human might get a lucky shot in on a big cat but I’d think he would be torn up first.

It’s Fox. They’ll fuck it up.

ETA: Just for the record, Fox is the studio that tried to buttfuck the Watchmen movie. They have a history of mishandling properties like this. The Narnia movies haven’t been very good, but under Rothman they will become unwatchable.

I’m not judging your taste. It’s too obvious to need to be judged.

The scene was bad for many reasons, but this is not one of them. Big cats are lucky to kill lone men, and then only if unarmed. Armored men with swords and crossbows win.

Waitaminute.

Are you meaning to say that a big cat would be lucky to kill a single unarmed man?

After the first two movies (which I thought were good-but-not-great and decent), it seems that Hollywood believes there has to be a huge LOTR-style battle scene with ballistas and stuff to sell a fantasy movie. Ideally, more than one.

Where could one be shoe-horned into Voyage of the Dawn Treader, though?
I’m praying they trust the quality of the book and try to actually make it, rather than destroying the tone by turning the fantastical and beautiful parts into action sequences.

(I guess a big action setpiece on the Seven Islands (where they’re overthrowing the corrupt governor) would be conceivable, and perhaps some flashback nightmares near the dark island. Anything else would be completely out of place as far as I can think.)

Maybe they could fit in a scene where a bunch of bank robbers are shooting at police cars with a minigun bolted to the roof of the bank.

 Read the sentence. It was not unclear.

They could try and throw a fight in against Eustace the dragon.

Oh, lord. I hope they don’t put any… wait. Wait. They could do the Lone Islands, where Caspian overthrows the governor. I guess. Anything is better than fighting Eustace.

Hmm. I didn’t like Prince Caspian (except for Reepicheep and Trumpkin). I love TVotDT. I’ll be sad if they royally screw it up. "Where the waves grow sweet/Doubt not, Reepicheep/To find all you seek… (not checking my book, may be wrong).

Dawn Treader is my favorite of the Narnia books, so I was looking forward to seeing it someday.

I’m not really surprised. It seemed obvious that the series would be picked up – it has a built-in audience.
