Voyage of the Dawn Treader trailer

Admittedly, they needed to do something to the movie to make it more cinematic, as not much happens in the book (though I’m not saying I don’t enjoy it).

Again, I’m just glad that they removed the hack responsible for foisting the filmic travesty that is Shrek on society at large from the director’s chair.

I love the ending to the Last Battle, but I really don’t like the story that precedes it.

Still, when they see their friends again, I tear up.

As much as I love the story (all of it, in fact), I just don’t see how the story as written in the book is at all filmable. But that also intrigues me.

Was that supposed to be her saying something about saving Narnia?

Right. Checked my copy. Vowed on his coronation day to find the lost lords. And they do, sort of, although it’s never confirmed that Octavian became a dragon.
About The Last Battle- the picture of Tash terrified me when I was a kid.

This looks excellent. I too liked Prince Caspien.

I hated Prince Caspian (both the movie and the actor playing the character). I didn’t know that another movie was on its way (I thought Disney cancelled it?!), but if nothing else, I’m inspired to read the books again. I’ll probably see the movie, but my expectations will be pretty low. Then again, the actor playing Lucy gave (imo) the only passable performance of the leads in the last movie, so it’s nice that she’ll have an even more prominent role.

And Tilda Swinton is back!

Seeing Tash brought to life would be but one of the definite highlights of a Last Battle film. And I’d be doubly excited were Guillermo Del Toro chosen to direct (and then, you know, he actually did end up directing).

Well, Bill Nighy as Reepicheep seems okay, thank Og. My decision rests on the portrayal of Reepicheep, not because he’s the character I look forward to, but because he’s the one I dread. See, I could. not. stand. him. in the book of VotDT. He wasn’t in the book of PC much, and what he did do didn’t bother me, but in VotDT, I honestly laughed when Caspian said “He [Aslan] never said anything about Beasts that never stop talking.” Because that’s pretty much all he did was talk. Okay, he had one good idea, during the battle with the sea serpent, and he took over the night watch, but mostly he was just Captain Obvious, huffing and puffing like a Stephen Fry character. At least that’s how I perceived him. Nighy hopefully won’t be so pompous.

In general, I have mixed feelings about the film series, but I’m willing to hang on if it means Magician’s Nephew gets made. One thing they have been getting right is the 1940s England atmosphere, and I’d love to see how they do London in 1900. If they do.

and they’d better not leave out the First Joke

Disney did cancel it. Fox picked it up instead.
