Yeah, the food’s always great, but what’s even better is no matter what you look like, or how you may be feeling, you always get a hearty Good Morning! or a term of endearment when they take your order or bring you your bill.
I gotta work Thanksgiving night (and they’ll be serving us turkey), but tomorrow afternoon, I will be at my nearest Waffle House soaking up some good vibes.
Make sure you play the “Waffle House songs” on the jukebox after you get your meal. They’re funny as all get out, but the waitstaff tends to get irritated when people play them.
I love the Waffle House as much as the next night owl sorta guy, but last time I was there, it took an experienced* waitress 45 minutes to take out order. I 'm sure she was busy, but the service was horrible. After three mistakes on the order and way too much time, I still left her a tip, but I was tempted not to.
All in all, I have to give respect to the late night breakfast franchise food servers, but around Richmond, VA, the service is lacking.
Lets not complain about the Waffle House. Take a moment while there is still an hour of Thanksgiving left and think about how lucky you are to have the wonderful treasure of Waffle House-ness near your home. A native Floridian currently residing in California, I find that not a day goes by that I don’t stigle the urge to drive until I see that comforting Yellow and black sign, with one letter burnt out.
California is not only lacking the Waffle house and huddle house, but also Steak 'n Shake, the Village Inn, and that lovely coresident with many WH locations, the classic southern truckstop.
