In two or three days, I will be redeploying from** Iraq ** back to America! I have been out here for the better part of 11 months now. I have learned a lot and had a great many life experiences.
So . .as I begin preparing for redeployment, I start to wonder, what should be the first thing I do when I get home?
Well what do you think, or what would be the first thing you would do after coming home from war??
I’m so glad for you. I hope you have a nice, comfortable trip home.
I think the first thing I would do is hug my family/friends/loved ones. Then have a nice, cold, beer and whatever foodstuff I missed most while I was away. Pretty dull, huh? Are you going to have any leave time after you arrive back? Maybe a trip to a part of the states you’ve always wanted to see would be in order.
That’s great news!
After you greet your loved ones and so on, why not do something you’ve been missing while over there? Grill a steak and have some good whiskey, or go to the movies, or take your dog to the park, or go bowling, or whatever you’ve missed.
I don’t know where you’ll be in the States, but a lot of the Southern states are having freakishly warm weather lately, so outdoorsy stuff is not out of the question.
Welcome home!
Wow. Congrats, Dryfreeze. How’s it feel to be in the tank for nearly a year?
AWWW that is great Dryfreeze. I think a dopefest in driving distance of me should be the first thing you do!!! Just kidding. I am glad to hear you are coming home.
Mazel Tov, Dryfreeze.
The first thing. Get yourself de-warzoned.
Relax, first and foremost. Spend time with family and friends, and answer their questions as honestly as you can but only up to the point you’re comfortable with it. Do whatever it is you dreamed about while you were over there.
I went and saw a movie with a friend after returning from Desert Storm, then went and ate at a nice restaurant and talked the night away.
Welcome back, Dryfreeze. Every soldier home makes it less of a war. It’s good to have you back.
Congratulations!!! And thank you for your service.
If it were me, I’d take the world’s hottest, longest, bubble-bath. And I’d eat some pizza. Ooh, and then go see The Return of the King.
Dryfreeze, have you ever held to a more beautiful thought than home? I’m so happy that you are headed out!
Give yourself a chance to readjust at your own pace. But get any paperwork in progress as soon as possible.
Stock up on salsa and beer for the Super Bowl!
Welcome home!!!
Thanks again for all you and your fellow soldiers do. Many thanks. An advance welcome home, hug all your friends & relatives, and just sit back and enjoy the comforts.
I just want to thank everyone for welcoming me back home. All of your support is greatly appreciated.
The best sound I ever heard was the loud cheer resonating through the airplane when we took off from the Sandbox. You’ll never forget it either.
Welcome back, and thanks for serving, brother.
Airman: Hey, thanks man, I am excited about it. Thanks to a fellow serviceman, yourself, good luck with these hard times. If there’s anything I can do drop me a line.
Indulge in everything. Eat all the pizza and junk food you can lay your hands on, watch movies, sleep in, the lot. Have a good trip home
Welcome back. Where will you live in the US?
Fort Campbell Kentucky! Home of the 101st Airborne Division
Good new, good news. Come home safely.
Wonderful news, Dryfreeze, and welcome home! How much leave time will you get, if any, to visit with your family before going on to Fort Campbell? I know they must be incredibly proud of you, as are a lot of us who’ve never met you – thanks for doing the great job you’ve done!
Indulge in all the things you were forbidden while you were there.
Like, eating a pork-kabob and drinking a beer while ogling dancers at a strip club! Did I miss anything?
Welcome home and thank you for everything.
Tiger: I’m going to head to Indianapolis for a good part of a month!!!
Queen. Ah yes, drinking, dancers and good stuff like that forbidden by GO1.
