As of 0130 Saturday morning, I am finished with my last deployment. Unless I get stop-lossed or something, I will never see the Middle East again, and I am perfectly O.K. with that.
The weather in Vegas has been absolutely perfect. You’d be surprised how cold it gets in Iraq. I have not wore a sweater since I’ve been here, as opposed to the literally five layers of clothing I wore over there.
I’ve survived a total of eight months in the desert, so that’s an accomplishment. I can let my guard down a bit and now I only have to worry about drunk drivers, thieves, random shootings, basically 6 billion other people.
Hey, you’re just a couple of miles up the road from me! The days have been rather nice lately, but you missed the real cold here by a couple of weeks. It’s the best time of year to be in Vegas, and I’m glad you don’t have to miss it.
