Wait...so they are new episodes after all?

I’m confused. When the writer’s strike broke I looked up all the shows I’ve watched any of, and took note of those they (TV Guide online etc) said wouldn’t be coming back with new episodes this season. One of them was Women’s Murder Club.

Now there are commericals advertising new episodes coming this/next month!

Have I been led astray with any of these others?

Chuck
Dirty Sexy Money
Private Practice
Pushing Daisies
Terminator show thing my dad watches

Last I heard all of them are on hiatus until fall. Still true? Another one for Dad: what about 24, still January?

Some shows got right back into production after the strike ended, primarily the solid hits (like The Office and Ugly Betty) and the new phenoms (Pushing Daisies). They did this because they want to regain/retain their audience before the actors go on strike in June.

A lot of the on-the-bubble shows got delayed or axed entirely. There are contract provisions that allowed immediate cancellation under special circumstances (such as the strike) that did not trigger penalties or minimum-order payments and the like, so the networks took advantage.

24 is a special case, I think. Their bread and butter is the uninterrupted season, and since they weren’t going to be able to guarantee that, they just called off the whole thing.

I’m obviously completely out of touch these days but… the actors are going on strike next?

Pushing Daisies may be back in production, but it’s my understanding that those episodes will go in the can to be aired for the 2008-2009 season.

Reaper has been considered on the bubble, but they’ve started showing a few new episodes that were presumably made post-strike - though I’m not certain on that; the character of Andy has longer hair than the last pre-strike episode, though, if that means anything.

Anyway, I am confused as to what its future is, as rumour had it that it was going to be cancelled. There seems to be a ringing silence on these post-strike decisions.
