That’s what’s so ingeneous about it. She’s perfected the fine art of camoflauge posting. Why, I myself have posted in 486 seperate threads today, but I’ve managed to tap into the server and make sure none of my posts have been recorded. They’re still there, though, for those with watchful eyes to see. Some just don’t have that gift and it merely registers in the unconcious mind.
If ever you read a thread and think “Wow, those were some very interesting and intellectual posts by Dopers…but why do I all of the sudden feel so nauseous and dirty?” well, that was me. Underground, undercover and incognito. Boo.

OK, maybe not that bad.
but in my short time here, it seems, long time posters are booted off the board more for someone tied into the administration having a personal beef against them, than anything else.
i could be wrong, or possibly mistaken in specific instances, but it surely seems to be a scenerio that happens.
unfortunate really.

John487, I think you’re wrong. Longtime posters know better than to post the foul, immature crap that Lexicon threw into the thread jarbabyj cited. That was why I was so surprised to see him banned, and even more so when I saw why. He disobeyed forum rules, got called on it, acted like even more of an ass, and paid the price. Personal agendas had nothing to do with it.
What means this?

i guess so, in this case.
seems a bit over the top to me, on both sides.
i remeber looking at the board about a year ago, it was a different place, not particularly better, but smaller and run more tolerably. of course it’s a neat place - so they couldn’t help but get flooded with more people, but now there is this aura of slap-handed authority that resides here. i don’t like it, but i think the board is great otherwise.
maybe the board has become too big for it’s britches. something’s changed, anyway.
Ender- That explains a lot, especially how I feel queasy upon entering GD.
John487- No personal beef that I know of; quite frankly, I liked Lex a lot. But personal insults go into the Pit, and he had frequented the Pit more than enough to know that. He then, upon being warned, continued to mouth off. Lines have been drawn, lines were crossed.
As for losing ‘long-time members’- cripes, I don’t understand it myself. All I can guess is that some people feel that by virtue of having been here for a while or by having a large post count, they are somehow above the rules. And no one is.
andros- I had accepted that as a possiblity, but I don’t see Jodi’s comments as crossing the line. She may have been vehement in her statements, but certainly no more so than Lex in calling for women to cut their tits off if they didn’t want them looked at. Lex then went into personal insults, Jodi did not. There’s a difference between being argumentative and being personally insulting. Lex crossed that line by calling for Jodi to blow him. Jodi never crossed that line.

Perhaps the reason the Board has changed in the past year is because we are flooded with idiots who, with a whole 19 posts under their belts, feel they have the experience and expertise to tell the mods and admins what is wrong with their rules and their conduct, and how they should be running the place. If I were a mod or an admin, such comments would make me cranky.
