Waiting for my niece!

I am sitting in a hospital waiting room, waiting for my sister to have her baby. She left for the hospital at three-thirty this morning. It’s almost two in the afternoon and she’s about ready to start pushing. I lived with my sister and her husband this past year. I was there a week before Christmas when she came home and told her husband that she was pregnant. I was there when they had to put a pickline in my sister because her morning sickness had dehydrated and the two rounds of home IV weren’t enough. I was there at eleven weeks when she started bleeding and cramping and we thought she might be miscarrying. I was sitting next to her for that OB appointment when we weren’t sure if we would hear a heart beat anymore and then got to see my niece sucking her thumb. I got to go to the eighteen week appointment when we found out I was getting a niece and not a nephew. It almost killed me to leave for a month and a half at the beginning of June. I came back on July 19 to wait for the baby. After watching my sister grow for nine months, I’m about to meet my niece. I am so freakin’ excited.

Obviously, there are no out of the womb photos yet, but you can see ultrasound pictures at www.elizabethgracemyers.com…yeah, my niece already has her own website. Photos will come when I have one.

Congrats! I got my first nieces (yes, twins) almost two weeks ago. Unfortunately, they’re kind of far - I’m in AZ and they’re in Seattle, so I haven’t been able to meet them yet.

I hope all goes great for your sister and niece!

I just poked my head in her room and she’s getting ready to start pushing. The next time I see my sister she won’t be pregnant. The next time I see my niece, she’ll be on the outside of my sister. I’m now sitting in the waiting room blubbering like a fool. My sister had to pick the week of my period to have her baby.

For me it was one of the most wonderful things in the world to hold my sleeping niece in the crook of my arm.

Congrats on your forthcoming title of aunt! (If it hasn’t come already.) My brother is still quite a bit young to be starting a family, and I’d be a bit worried about people in my own age group to be having any kids, but I’m eagerly awaiting some of my slightly older friends to settle down so I can be a pseudo-auntie and start knitting things. Give us an update when you can!
