"Waiting for pr.comet.yahoo.com or just Waiting on comet.yahoo.com

Hello

This is the message I get when I try to get into my e-mail and it takes FOREVER on my W7 machine. This has been going on for 3 days. The other prob is the racing cursoe. I use google chrome as my browser, but I can be on a website and just all of a sudden the cursor just takes off after it forms itself into first a circle of arrows and then just a circle with an arrow pointing toward upper right.

Could I have a virus and is it possible my AVG cannot detect it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Q

It’s not a virus. It’s part of Yahoo.

Clear the cache/cookies/etc. and see what happens.

With Chrome open and the active window, hold Cntrl/Shift/Delete at the same time. A clear browser data window should appear. In it select all of them except Passwords and the selections below it (by default all will be selected except Passwords and the items below it. Keep those unselected, you probably use/need them). In the lower right hand corner select ‘Clear Browser History’.

Close all Chrome windows, relaunch and see if it doesn’t speed up your problem.

Sorry, no go and there’s something else happening and it’s at the “log in” where the site asks your name and password? Well, as soon as I click on the name portion, up comes Quasimodem - it stays a split second and then disappears. It is only by several retries that I can sign on here.

Appreciate the help, though, HeweyLogan

What version of Chrome are you using?

In Chrome go to the upper right and click on the three vertical dots to the right of the star icon that bookmarks pages.

In the dropdown go down to Help and hover/hold the pointer over it. To the left/or maybe right on that now expanded window, select About Google Chrome.

It’ll show you which version you’re currently using (and most likely update to the current version available. If it does, let it download, install, and then relaunch).

If it updated, is the same issue happening?

If so, which version is it saying?

Thank you, Sir! All is well and running much smoother and faster now. Chrome will not let me copy and paste the numbers of what version this is, but I remember it begins with 60.

If you need me to, I can write the numbers down for you?

Thanks very much indeed!

Q

Glad I could help.

You mention it says it’s currently at version 60 something. Ideally you want it at 61 something.

If it really says 60 something, revisit the routine I mentioned above about checking the version number and see if it doesn’t keep updating itself. It should eventually get to 61 something.

If it doesn’t it isn’t any huge issue, just something to check in a week or so and see if it isn’t available by then so you can avoid the issue that happened to you happening in the future.

Again, glad I could help. Take it easy.

And I spoke too soon, apparently. That thing with the racing cursor is still nagging my machine. It just runs all the way down the right side of the page, does its little circle with arrow, then just an arrow pointing up. I can stop by hitting that arrow with my cursor, but it does happen over and over.

It’s faster now and smoother when the pages change, but not the cursor. That is what made me think I might have a virus.

Anyway, I do appreciate your help.
