I was given a sample of Walden Farms salad dressing. WOW! It tastes just like real salad dressing. Even my, I-hate-everything-diet, husband loved it.
Now, I find they made all manner of calorie free products.
Has anyone tried any of this?
Do they all taste so good?
How do they do it? I swear the dressing tasted like it had oil in it.
Honestly, I find most of them to be pretty unpallateable. Some of the dressings are OK - mostly the viniagrette types, not the creamy ones - but the other products are Not Good. Something about the texture is really off.
The “peanut spread” reminded me of peanut butter jello, if such a foul thing actually existed.
Yuk. I find all of their “foods” to be vile at best. Calories are there for a reason, people!
Thanks.
I’m sad to say I’m not surprised. The dressing was, indeed, a viniagrette.
Since they are pretty expensive, I’m going to stick with my low fat options.
I have no choice but to eat low-carb (diabetes, high blood pressure, neither of which is a problem now that I don’t eat carbs) so I was looking around for things to make a very boring diet a little less boring. Netrition.com has a lot of very good products at a great price (and $4.95 for shipping, no matter how big or heavy the order is) and I’ve tried most of them.
Walden Farms chocolate syrup is vile, but their chocolate dip is decent.
(For syrups, nothing beats Da Vinci sugar-free syrups)
Their Ranch Bacon dressing is decent.
Their Peanut Spread is vile (I prefer Dixie Diner Carb Not Beanit Butter), but their jams and jellies are good. I like the Blueberry and Raspberry the best. I do have to run them through the blender and pour them back into the jar though, because they’re impossible to spread. It’s like trying to spread jello.
Their ketchup is nasty (Heinz makes a low-carb ketchup that’s great).
Their regular dips are ok, but normal French Onion dip is fairly low-carb anyway so I just buy that (Dean’s brand) to make Pork Rinds more palatable.
At least they’re trying. They just need to work more on taste and texture.
The bleu cheese dressing is decent, I remember the chocolate dip having a terribly bitter aftertaste.
Agreed on the blue cheese dressing, and I’ll add the Thousand Island as pretty good.
Their barbeque sauce is vile. I held a lot of hope for that stuff to be good, but it went in the garbage after the first use. I used the Ranch and finished the bottle so it must have been okay.
Netrition is awesome, by the way.
