Walk me through your morning internet browsing routine

Check email.

Facebook.

SDMB.

Fugly Horse of the Day.

Most weekday mornings I don’t have enough time to do much, as I have a train to catch and I tend to sleep in a lot because my commute is so long and my work hours too damned early! Anyway…

Email - Usually none. It seems to be the least popular method of communication amongst my friends, which is a shame as it’s my preferred.
Twitter - Overnight there can be hundreds to catch up on, though weekends only about 60 - 80. It’s a good place to gauge the zeitgeist of the day, and any world events.
SDMB - Just a quick check to see if I’ve been responded to.
News - I check my local paper’s website for the bigger news.

And a few other things I refuse to detail on the grounds that they may incriminate me. Though not really.

Up anywhere between 6 and 7.

Make coffee. Get juice.

Open SDMB and email. Read emails(10 overnight), ban spammers(1-4), get first mug of coffee.

Read SDMB new posts overnight. Ban another 2-4 spammers in forums other than GQ(my forum).

Read Google news.

Get second mug of coffee.

Look at weatherunderground for Akron, OH.
Check bank balance, check credit card balance.

Read linguist websites.

Read fishing forum on Hatteras island.

Read Giraffe Board.

Shower, come back and refresh emails. Go to work.

Web Browsing intermittenly all day while I take short but frequent breaks from projects.

First I read the incident log from my local police dispatch center to see if I was arrested or died yesterday, or if anything else interesting happened in the county.

Then I take the daily 5 question quiz at mentalfloss.com to see if I can beat the average, I usually can. http://www.mentalfloss.com/

I look at the Astronomy Picture of the day. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html

In no particular order I will check the news at 2 local TV stations, Google News, CNN, ABC, Drudge, Wired. And read Cracked.

I used to read The Onion but their web site has become an almost unreadable piece of shit so I deleted it from Favorites.

Then I will see if any of the youngsters at my favorite car nut page need any help. LS1TECH - Camaro and Firebird Forum Discussion

When I wake up, I have just enough time to tend to the wikis I administrate. If I have more time, I just surf for opinions on some random controversial topic.

I don’t really have a particular order. I’ll usually check my e-mail, then float around between the SDMB and reddit, then maybe check Cracked. By then I’ll probably have found something to settle on for a while.

I get out of bed, grab the phone, into the bathroom

Pee, clean teeth, shower …

Everything else can wait till later.

Being ‘retired’, I have a lot of time to kill in the morning!
I look at Salon, Slate, IMDB (to read about last night’s show on the message boards), my local paper, several comic strips, quote for the day, Saint of the day, Oceangram, several recipe sites to see the offering for the day, Freekibble, Animal Rescue Site, a couple of advice sites where you can respond to a writer’s letter. Straight Dope. Blind Gossip. Some sites I read once a week - Village Voice, NYT book reviews. the Comics Curmudgeon. Read my e-mails, look at Etsy, read my horoscope, then it’s time for Facebook. Then I look at the time, and realize it’s time to close the lid on this thing until…the evening!

Work days: Just my university Gmail.

My routine used to be:
Facebook
University Gmail
CNN
Indianapolis Star

The Indianapolis Star has gone to a limited number of articles a month, so I stopped bothering with it in any form. I’m sure I could bypass it, but it’s not worth the effort. Facebook and CNN are now checked via phone apps before I even lift my head off the pillow (which is also when I respond to missed texts). If I have a message on Facebook that requires more than a sentence or two, I do it at the computer while checking my mail. Other sites remain for when I get off of work, or at-work browsing on the phone’s browser.

Off days:
Facebook (tab remains open so I can see if I get any notifications)
University Gmail
CNN
BBC News
SDMB
Kongregate (free games site)
Cracked

Gmail
CNN (quick glance to make sure the world is intact)
local newspaper website (quick glance)
Dlisted for all my awesome celebrity gossip needs (nobody is better at it than that bitchy guy)
Facebook

In no particular order:

Facebook
SDMB
Politico
Detroit Free Press
Five Thirty-Eight
NBC News
CNN
Local Patch site
Yahoo mail
Work mail

Just checked this out, hilarious!

At home, while I eat breakfast:

NYTimes, quick scan for headlines and maybe an article
Facebook for about 5 minutes.

At work:

Thanks! I actually run it. Amazing the messages people send me in response to the pics.
