WalkAmerica: I'm waliking for March of Dimes

The end of April I will be walking with my company for the March of Dimes campaign for healthy babies.

First of all, would any DFW Adams family members like to join me? It’s a 10 mile walk around White Rock Lake, and you can quit anytime apparently, although I plan to go the whole way. I may be crawling the last mile, but I will do it! :smiley:

Secondly, would anyone like to “sponsor” me? Basically you make a contribution to March of Dimes but you do it through me. You can send me a check made out to March of Dimes, and I pass it on. I am pledging $50, but any amount is great. If you want to mail me a check, tell me and I will email you my check. If anyone has any suggestions for other methods of getting the money to me, I’ll be happy to work it out. If I get $200 or more in contributions, I will get a gift certificate to Blockbuster (starting at $10 and going up). If Chef Troy will loan me his house, I will throw a movie dopefest getting whatever I can get from Blockbuster.

And if you don’t want to send money to me, you can donate to March of Dimes through their website. I’ll look that up at work today and pass it on this evening.

Finally, is anyone else walking? Maybe we can trade cell phone numbers and get in touch during the walk.

I’m on the March of Dimes committee here at work but I won’t be able to participate in our walk this year. Our WalkAmerica is scheduled for April 20th and that’s the day of my wedding reception… girl’s gotta have some priorities!

March of Dimes is a great organization though and I’ve been participating in the walks for almost 5 years now. I don’t think I could handle 10 miles! Our walks are usually 3-4 miles and my ass is draggin’ the last 2! Guess I’m outta shape.

Jim - I saunter at about two miles an hour, and a brisk walk is about 3 mph. So I should finish in less than 5 hours, assuming my feet don’t give out. The walk starts at 8 AM.
