When I signed on this morning, I noticed my wallpaper was actually in black and white, and all my writing on the screen was twice as large as normal. I went into display and reset my settings to 800x600, and that made the colors reappear, but with “hard” edges, and some of the colors on my icons have changed as well.
On my Excite newspage, the fotos also have a square “pixelish” grainy appearance. Any ideas?
I run W98SE on an IBM clone, Pentium II Celery 400, Authentic AMD, AMDK-6 3d Processor with 124 MB of RAM. I also have a new Phillips 109B monitor
I thought at first I was running in SAFE mode, but that doesn’t sem to be the case. I ran Norton Utilities and everything checks out there as well.
My Excite webpage isn’t affected except for the news photographs
Thanks for your help.
Quasi
PS: I know, I need to upgrade soon and I will, but that doesn’t explain the sudden change in display, does it?
In your Display control panel, are the colors set to “256 colors”, “32,767 colors,” or “16 million colors”? You may have had a higher setting previously and have now been reverted to a lower setting.
Thanks, Rjung! I had a friend take a look and she put it on 32bit highcolor, and also enlarged the fonts, and that brought the picture back into focus.
Tattva, I had not considered that, but will take a look. Thanks to both of you!
