Walmart.com works in mysterious ways.

This isn’t a bitch a Walmart thread, so 99% of you can save time and leave disappointed. More of kind of bemused at Walmart thing.

So I bought something on Walmart.com Actually several things in a bundle. Which is I guess how they sneak around Manufacturer fixed prices to give you a good deal anyway, and it was a good deal. The said expect delivery on 20th to the 25th, I was ok with that, the transaction was acceptable. I logged in to see how the shipping was going.

Item 1, the smallest and lightest piece was shipped immediately with UPS mail innovations which I had never heard of. Apparently the UPS truck comes to your business picks up the package, drives it to a UPS center, processes it and then they gather them all up on a truck, drive them down to a post office and throw them all in the mailbox for the Post office to deliver;). That seems bizarre enough.

Then 30 minutes later they shipped box number 2 much heavier from the same warehouse. They used Fed Ex and it is supposed to actually get here on the 19th tommorow , before their estimate.

Then 5 minutes later, they shipped box 3 from the same warehouse through Fed-Ex(Probably on the same truck as number2) This one they sent 2 day aparently because it says I missed delivery today.

After their commercials about how they have mastered organizational technology to SAVE ME MONEY, I kind of expected something like organizational organization. But I am  now.

Oh well, I would have been perfectly happy with one box somewhere between the 20th and 25th but it seems they really want me to stagger my excitement on different days.

Amazon is like this too. I just did two separate orders with them. In each case, the orders were split up for no apparent reason. I like to “bundle” things in order to get supersaver free shipping, which Amazon then promptly unbundles at no extra charge. The most recent one was two seasons of a popular TV show. So no extra warehouse machinations really needed.

Apparently having humans use extra time into putting things together is more costly than shipping and extra packaging.

Heh, funny story. I ordered my husband a safety razor and a box of replacement blades for his birthday (It’s what he asked for. Apparently safety razors are awesome?) Unbeknownst to me, they split the order up, and the box of replacement blades showed up first. The box was big enough that it could have had both the razor and blades in it, so I wrapped it up and gave it to him without checking. He was like “Um … thanks?”
