Wal-Mart introduces trendy clothes for women
Urban-style line, called Metro 7, to be rolled out this week in 500 stores

As a point of popular culture for many clothing buyers Walmart is anti-fashionable, by it’s nature. Whatever Walmart is fashion is not and vice versa.

I was in Walmart the other night getting some groceries and I also got an 8 pack of Jockey underwear for around $ 8.00. It was (to me) an amazing deal and what Walmart is all about.

Since I was in the clothing section I went over to look at the men’s belts which were all around 10-20 and was disappointed. They were all just cheap crap even thought they were *trying* to look good, you could tell they were low quality by the feel of the materials and finish. My year old 60 belt looked better than anything on the rack.

Can Walmart clothes ever be considered “fashionable” for women’s clothing?

Not as long as Chez Target is competing with them. BTW, Target has been advertising in Architectural Digest lately which I find fascinating.

I suppose Wal-Mart clothing could be fashionable, it would depend on which sweatshop the trendy gear came from, however.

They have some wikkid cute tops. I always get complimented on my wardrobe, and love watching people’s faces when I tell them I got it at Wally World for next to nothing.

I’ve never been one to follow trends or rely on brand names, so I do shop for clothes at Wal-Mart on occasion. As Witch pointed out, they do have some pretty awesome shirts (for girls anyway) that are usually really reasonably priced. Most girls my age tend to overlook Wal-Mart for clothes shopping but they really do have decent clothes.

But the mens section definitely leaves something to be desired. They don’t really have any decent looking guy clothes unless you like Star Wars T-shirts and burlap sack material pants.

If I didn’t buy Mizrahi when he went to Target or Miller when she went to JC Penny, I’m sure as hell not buying some no-name at Wal*Mart.

I’m a little hardcore, though, so my post should be taken with a pretty big grain of salt.

I would go naked rather than shop for clothing (other than socks and underwear) at WalMart. And if you’ve seen me naked, you know the power of this statement.

I’ve found some cute t-shirts and tops at Wal-Mart before. It’s fun just to look around. But, any time I’ve gone into the men’s section, I’ve noticed just how much it sucks. There’s nothing there!

I got two gushing compliments from strangers at work about a skirt I bought at WalMart last week.
WalMart has perfectly nice clothes. Not snob-friendly, though.

I need to see pictures before I comment.

If you’re a lady over 25 but under 65, there’s not a whole lot for you at WalMart. That being said, I have gotten some really nice things like denim jumpers and skirts, dirndl skirts and light sweaters and the like. Mostly, though, I get my casuals there - shorts, tees, and jeans. I seldom have a problem with quality, although I have a time or two. And you really can’t beat the prices.

Well I’m a 40 year old lady, and Walmart is my idea of Shangri La

And is promptly sued by Anthropologie.
