Walz & Vance Debate Follow-Along -- Tue, Oct 1, 2024, 8:00 PM CDT

No, I don’t think so. He is quite articulate and he’s not crazy, but not even close to likable.

Walz rebuttal that they are for women’s freedom to make their own choices about their bodies rather than about abortion is very good.

He is. He navigated the flip flop on his abortion position as well as he possibly could. Stating that his constituants overwhelmingly voted against his position and that persuaded him. Wether its true or not doesn’t change the fact that it was a solid answer.

“Just mind your own business!”

This is more like an actual debate.

The commercial breaks in these debates have been SO weirdly spaced. I hope that in 2028 the candidates go back to working with the CPD instead of letting the networks run this.

It won’t but it’s entertaining as hell. This is a debate; that Trump/Harris one wasn’t anything like this. Once Walz found his feet, he’s doing well; Vance is experienced and is doing well.

Vance is worrisome, actually. He’s good at this. Almost too good.

But it is still as entertaining as hell.

There it is: “It’s not true, it’s not what it says, it was already fact checked with Donald Trump.”

That’s emphatic.

Love how you can see people react in real time to the same thing in totally opposite ways.

I would have preferred Walz saying it is a LIE to say the Minnesota law allows doctors to kill babies. Call it what it is emphatically.

Vance (without a hint of self-awareness) “Governor, I asked you a specific question, and you gave me a slogan in response”, and they head to commercial break.

To be very superficial and catty … regarding the moderators and many other political correspondents … is it just me or have extremely large false eye lashes become a female talking head look?

Have made it back from the planning board meeting and tried to caught up simultaneously with this thread and the debate, Seem to have done that just in time for the commercial break.

As an aside, I know that nobody likes commercials, but being in Canada means I never see American commercials. But my cable provider isn’t overlaying Canadian commercials in this broadcast, so I’m (oddly) enjoying the American commercials.

My. I just realized this may be the last follow-along thread we have for this election.

:confetti_ball: :confetti_ball: :tada: :confetti_ball: :confetti_ball:   :clinking_glasses:!!!

Time to talk guns.

The question is, will there be any more elections after this election?

What about watching the results come in (or not) late on November 5th?

You’re overlooking the thousand post long moment-by-moment running thread on election night?

Vance playing the “I don’t know the details” card, as if being ignorant of basic facts is acceptable for a political candidate.
