Damn my lack of Three Dog Night knowledge! Well, getting the question wrong is still better than having to actually listen to the music, though.
So I have a question regarding this trivia:
Does the list of questions generate indivudually for each person, or is it set for the entire group per day?
It seems like a given doper will complain about a particular question (today there’s fessie griping about Kenny Chesney lyrics), but today I received no questions about Kenny Chesney, or music lyrics of any artist.
It doesn’t seem like a fair competition of trivial knowledge if we’re not all having the SAME trivial knowledge tested.
Just signed up and played my first quiz…a little ridiculous, frankly. Most of the questions were gimmes, and the only ones I got wrong were some Bible thing and
 The answers available were “Guns”, “Firearms”, “Shootings” and “All of these”. Holy crap.
Sorry to double post, but apparently I can’t report the question because I’m not logged in. Even though I just logged in a second ago, I just submitted a quiz and got a score, and I haven’t cleared my cookies.
Now when I go to the main page it says I’m not logged in and when I try to log in with the password I just set up a second ago it says I’m using the wrong password. Eff dis, mang.
Fetus’ trials with an awful trick question confirms it. Everybody gets a different set of questions every day.
Is there any way to make it so that everybody in your tournament gets the same questions?
726, 8/10. Woot.
Agreed. I don’t have any problem with the “Mixed Bag” category, but it’s disappointing that we’re not competing based on the same questions.
“Daily Mixed Bag” does seem to draw from a really large group of available questions. I don’t have any control over that; I just chose that category b/c it’s one of the defaults, is widely used, and doesn’t give anyone a particular advantage.
My girlfriends have been playing using specific key words for a couple of months now; I doubt you’d want their questions though (today’s was “The Wiggles”, which I tanked). But it does seem like we’re drawing from a smaller pool - say, 15-25 questions total. We don’t exactly compare quizzes, since that would give the questions away for contestants who haven’t yet played. Us mom’s are pretty competitive about it!
Anyway, that’s why I thought a few key words would be the way to go for next month’s tournament. Going by Cecil’s column (or comments thereof) is the most random way of selecting the topic. If I went to Cafe Society, it’d be LOTR half the time & I can’t abide those movies!
Damn…I got smoked both days I played so far (7 of out of 10). I need to either watch more TV or become a better guesser.
Took me 47 seconds to get all 10 right. :wally
Oddly, today I got a repeat question that I had gotten three or four days ago.
Spoiler if you really don’t want to see a trivia question before it pops up in your own quiz.
Bruce Willis used to be married to:
a) Demi Moore
b) Roger Moore
c) Michael Moore
d) Dinty Moore Beef Stew
(The three names that are not the right name are ones I just made up to put in there.)
As my user name might suggest - I took a long time. But did score 100%. I’m the slowest perfect score, which as of this moment makes me sixth.
I’ve been doing the global, regional and hourly trivia tournaments, and I’ve seen a LOT of questions at least twice. Each time, it gets easier to spend only a second or three answering.
Here’s something interesting I’ve been wondering about — if you look at the “Worldwide Standings”, you’ll see that the SDMB tournament was #46 in terms of popularity yesterday, with 34 players and an average score of 750. “Horn Fans” is #1 with 75 players and an average score of 728.
Comparing the 47 tournaments in the Top 100 who used Daily Mixed Bag questions, the 34 SDMB players had the 3rd highest average score! Only Jay’s Challenge and Bobby’s Trivia fared better, with 791 and 777, respectively.
Most days, we’re either tops for average score or in the top 3-4.
Ignorance done got fought and beat for many of us:D
Perfect 10/10 in 57 seconds even though I had to guess a lot! Yay for guessing.
Well, this proves that the players aren’t competing with the same batch of questions each day.
Today I was on my way to a perfect “10” when yet another genre fiction question tripped me up. Damn you detective novels! Damn you all to hell!
Ooh. Or, just as fun, “Here’s an easy one: Which Borgfrellbridge was the first to conquer Bravfrenging? A) Froghred B) Neighmord C) Screwmnard D) Plogfragm.”
“Here’s an easy one,” unless it comes from the “For Children” folder (and even then–Pokemon, I’m looking at you–it’s no guarantee), generally begins questions about genre crap I have no business knowing otherwise.
Yeah, I keep getting those, too. Haven’t guessed right on a one of them.
Tuesday, right? It’s Tuesday that’s the 1st? I’ll reset this sucker on Monday and we’ll see what happens.

Heh heh. You said “screw my nard.” Heh heh heh.
