What would parts and labor run for that? How long would it take?
Thanks for your help,
Rob
I hate to break this to you, but you’re looking at a repair that’s probably more than your car is worth - and that’s with a remanufactured engine, which is a good choice for this kind of repair.
I realize that this is essentially a rebadged Toyota and might have life left in it - but it’s also a ten year old car that isn’t worth very much. You have to weigh whether you’ll get this cost back. You won’t add much to the car’s value with a new engine, sadly, and next week the transmission could go and make this repair kind of pointless.
Your call.
I just did a fast search. I found a rebuilt 1998 Corolla engine for about $2,400. That’s just the engine, no labor, no nothin’.
On Craigslist I found several entire 1998 Corollas for $3,000.
