Want someone to ID a movie for me.

I am curious as to the title of a movie, the last portion of which I saw several years ago.

Basically, it’s a slasher film about a single mother who is hated by her ex-husband, a psycho who sometimes dresses as a woman. I remember little about the plot (basically, I saw only the last fourth of the movie, and was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana) except the maniac was presumed to have died near the end.

However, I remember the last scene. The mother and her child, possibly accompanied by other people, have visited a park or a formal garden of some kind. While they are alone at this place, the child tells his mother that the father is there, and she replies that the father isn’t.

The last scene of the movie shows the woman tending the child. Up behind them pops the maniac, dressed in drag, holding a knife and smiling an evil grin. Fade to black.

I would appreciate it if some of you dopers could ID this movie for me. I suspect it is a piece of shit, but I’ve remembered that final scene for years – it gives me the shivers now and then – and I want to find out if the rest of the movie is memorable or even decent to watch.

Thanks for your help. Probable won’t check this site again for a few days.

psycho killer drag queen, eh? i don’t know it, but I anxiously await the title, sounds like a must have.

The plot sounds wrong, but the ending sounds just like Raising Cain with John Lithgow as the split personality/occasionally cross-dressing psycho bad guy. Directed by Brian DePalma in, oh, '89 or so. Excellent Hitchcock wanna-be.
