Want to be interviewed for my grad school paper?

I’m finishing off my teaching credential, and I need to interview someone with a decidedly non-Christian viewpoint. My appointment with a Buddhist teacher fell through, so I’m trying this route. Anything is ok, as long as you wouldn’t say you’re Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, etc.

What label would you use for yourself religiously?
What are your:

Core values

Doctrines/beliefs

Traditions/Ceremonies/Practices

I teach Taekwondo. Our style’s philosophy is based on the development of life skills, as well as physical skills. The core life skills are courtesy, loyalty, respect, perseverance, honor, integrity and self-control. One of the reasons I have stayed with this particular style is because that was the way I was raised. It resonates with me and I know that I became an instructor so that I could pass those concepts on to others.

None.

Maximize pleasure, minimize pain.

None, really, unless you wish to specify what you mean by doctrines and beliefs. You may put something different into those words than I.

I celebrate Christmas, Midsummer, New Year’s, birthdays, confirmations and so forth like all the other vaguely Lutheran Swedes, but I put no religious meaning into it. Funerals, weddings and baptisms are in church.
