"Wanted" classification on eBay?

Recently I’ve considered putting a “wanted” ad on eBay, for things like oldies records I’ve looked for; remote controls for a Mitsubishi color TV, etc. But I didn’t see this category on eBay’s home page…

Unfortunately, you can’t put up a “Wanted” ad on eBay. They used to have a Wanted board in the forums section, but new board usage rules now say: “The following types of postings are cause for immediate post removal, warning, board sanction and/ or suspension from the site…“Wanted” posts, or posting solicitations of interest in the sale of an item or service.”

Not an actual fix, but one thing you can do is to do a search for the widget, save it in your “My Favorite Searches” and check the “Email Me when new items appear” button. This should take the burden out of frequently checking eBay to see if your widget is up for sale.

Or you hire someone like me, a personal eBay Auction Assistant.

To keep an eye out and search regularly for your wanted item.

Hey, Aenea, maybe you can find these things for me:
Mitsubishi TV remote control; serial number for the set begins with “CR” or “CK”…
45 rpm singles like:
“Ninety-Nine Miles to LA”
“A Doodlin’ Song” --Peggy Lee
“The Ballad of Davy Crockett”–Bill Hayes
“Can’t Gery Used to Losing You”–Andy Williams
“IGY” (“What a beautiful world this would be–what a glorious time to be free”–from about May 1984
Thanx

This may be the auction you want to look at. Your Andy Williams lp is in there.

You may also try doing a saved search for your items on Ebay. I think they last for 3 months, but you basically put in some of your keywords, and it mails you when those items appear. (this is done from the MY PAGE>FAVORITES area)

I’ve only used it once, and didn’t receive a hit, however on Monday, on a fluke check for the item I not only found it, but won at a fairly reasonable price (at least to me)

Whoo hoo!
