weird eBay problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? I am trying to sell an MP3 Player on eBay. I tried once and there was no buyer, but a respectable number of hits to the item’s page, had some watchers, etc. I relisted, and its been 3 days now without a single hit other than myself, no watchers, etc. Very strange. I did a search for MP3 player and waded through the multitude of results and confirmed that yes, indeed it does show up in searches. Any one else experience this/have a solution/answer? Thanks.

Sorry for the bad link

You want too much for it.

Start lower, and let the heat of the bid drive the price up.

LOL. Fair market price, I say. But that still does not address why there are no hits to the page. When it was listed the first time, the price was higher and I still got nearly 100 hits.

If only the market agreed with you.

Do we have any knowledge at all as to how reliable the eBay counters are? (I stopped using them long ago, suspecting that they were plucking numbers at random)

It likely has nothing whatsoever to do with your page. I notice you’re using
Andale counters. Andale is one of the least reliable auction service companies on the web. I long ago dumped their picture hosting service because their pix server was down more than it was up - and they still have so many problems with it that when you go to report a problem, they have a *form letter generic web page * that says “we’re aware of the problem and we’re working on it”!

Nowadays the only thing I pay them for is the market research that lets me track prices for items and gives me statistical breakdowns of listings. And even *that * is unavailable several days a month.

I use my own site to host pictures. I had noticed discrepancies with their counter before, but nothing to lead me to believe they were total BS. I am sure your right about them, but this is the frist time its happened to me.

I’m afraid not… Amazon is selling it new for $140 after rebate, including free shipping.

Speaking as a frequent Ebay shopper… IMHO your starting price is too high.

There’s one going off in an hour that has 15 bids going for $135.73. And four going off tomorrow that are all in the $100 range ($81.99, $112.50, $102.50, and $100.00 as of right now) that also have high bidder counts. (BTW, each one of those had a starting price of $9.99).

Seeing that, if I were looking for that particular model - something starting at $159.95 with a BIN of $199.95 would be a last resort for me.

I would relist it with a lower starting price and let the bidding drive up the price.

YMMV.

Apparently the market has changed since I bought it a few weeks ago. Ill change the price in the morning and see what happens (alcohol+no sleep=bad time now). Thanks everybody!
