WaPo readers - no more comments on Opinion pieces?

Am I missing something, or has the WaPo disabled commenting on opinion pieces?
The Ed Board is pretty firmly stuck up the Orange Moronic Menace’s behind, but I actually like reading the comments now and then - there’s some pretty good and insightful people there.

Wonder if chickenshit Bezos couldn’t handle the intelligent beatdowns he and his idol were getting …

Not surprising. Hasn’t Bezos been steadily enshittifying it and taking away more and more editorial control? It’s just another billionaire mouthpiece at this point, no? Democracy died in darkness, indeed.

I guess every techbro CEO these days needs their own communications propaganda platform. Probably helps them get onto Epstein Island.

I just checked and I’m seeing comments on editorial pieces, including ones by the Editorial Board. (This is, of course, on the Washington Post website.)

Looking at the WaPo website, I’m seeing the comments option on about half the opinion pieces. Comments often won’t be allowed on all articles in any publication.

What led you to jump to this conclusion ask the question?

Where else would the OP be talking about??

No idea but I wasn’t sure where the OP was reading the opinion pieces. It was odd that I was seeing comments but the OP didn’t.

Maybe you have to be a logged in subscriber in order to see the comments? I don’t know either.

If that matters, yes, I am a paid digital subscriber.

Edited to add, I went to the Washington Post website in an incognito window and still saw the number of comments listed for one of the opinion columnists, though it was behind the prompt to subscribe.

Yeah, that was weird, I can see them today. I am a subscriber and was signed in, there was just … no comments section.

Ah well, a temporary glitch somewhere, maybe Adblock getting wires crossed. But, I can sure see it happening in today’s insane world. That makes me incredibly sad and angry.

So you’re sad and angry over nothing real?

No, If you read what I said, I’m sad and angry that the current goings on in the world of politics and media has made me even QUESTION whether or not the comments thing was just a glitch or yet another attempt to silence open discourse.

Honestly, I’m not a total moron …

You have to be a logged-in subscriber just to see the paper.
