One of the best things to come out these fair isles for quite some time.
Does anyone know of any games similar to WH40K that have as much of an in depth storyline and intriguing premise. (sci-fi no fantasy)
Preferably a table top game.

Infinity has an interesting setting and several distinct factions. The minis are very cool and supremely high-tech in appearance. In that regard, it is the opposite of WH40K. It’s also different in that it is really intended to be a small unit action game, with few “armies” having more than 10 models.
Battletech pioneered the whole ongoing, in-game universe detailed in novels. GW has followed this literary example. But it seems like the GW novels show stuff happening in the universe without having any real effect on the game.
Could you specify about that infinity game and would you mind if I stole that sig of yours.
The more people that use that sig, the better it gets.
On that Infinity link, you can go to the bottom left of the page and see the nine factions under “miniatures.” The game is set 175 years in the future and technology has had major discoveries like wormholes that allow interstellar colonies, virtual reincarnation through personality recording and bio-syntetic bodies, and true artificial intelligence. The factions include big players like Pan-Oceania, the main economic and technological power down to lesser factions like Ariadna, a rediscovered lost colony with more primitive tech but important resource monopolies.
Great and gggggreat.
In addition to 40K, Infinity, Warmachines and Hordes seem to be popular in the local gaming scene where I live. And Malifaux. But the others may have too many fantasy elements for your tastes.
Do people still play Necromunda?
I played it back in high school. Skills, injuries, etc. carry over from skirmish to skirmish when you play a campaign. It was a blast. The original game box came with three-dimensional cardboard terrain that you could set up. After a quick googling, it doesn’t appear the box is available anymore. I guess you’d have to build your own.
Amazon link to rulebook.
Limited number of miniature sets still offered by Games Workshop.
The Necromunda and Mordheim players at my store have moved on to Warmachine and Hordes.
My local has a strong following of Dust. It is a WWII/Steampunk game,.
Brits, Americans, Russians, and Axis are available.
It looks fun, but I’m sticking with 40k for now.
Dust just didn’t catch on in my location. The big box just sits on the top shelf of the store.
Is there a big crowd using the Forgeworld minis and vehicles?
