As into that sort of thing as I am, I’m surprised every time it’s mentioned that I don’t have Rarity. I’ll download it tonight.
Yeah, I’m aware of that achievement and I’ve decided I’m going to wait until I’m level 110 and the mobs aren’t as good at smashing my face. Or maybe I’ll find a follower that doesn’t suck with a rogue. I probably need to choose a rogue.
Never worked for me, I get sidetracked by fishing.
Glad to hear it. I thought the area was fun despite its challenges. Tossing that giant Iron Star at a cluster of orcs was pretty satisfying.
Oh yeah, I’ve basically dismissed ever finishing that. I happened to loot two of the same pieces needed for that doing invasions, but I doubt I’ll ever finish it. I keep my hearthstone set to Summer’s Rest in Pandaria, where my Engineering lets me use the AH there.
Each treasure has a corresponding questID, so that you can use a macro to determine if you’ve completed a given treasure or not, but I’ve never seen an all-in-one-place list of the appropriate questIDs, and I’d hate to try to poke that much stuff into a /run macro.
I knew my progress because of the HandyNotes DraenorTreasuresplugin. Since it has programmatic access to the same quest completion status, it’d be up to date on your progress as soon as you install it, so any treasures still on the map would really be the ones you still need to get.
Really other than installing a base addon (HandyNotes) and the module, this seems like the dead-simplest way to do it.
BTW, I have to thank you guys for mentioning that Kil’jaeden quest. I said I’d try to solo it, and when I got home, it happened to be on the quest table. So I went over. It was tedious waiting for 25 spawns of Vol’mar captives, but I did finish it, and when I turned it in, I got the achievement for Draenor’s Last Stand. Didn’t even know I was that close to finishing it. So thank you.
Oh how I hate Golemagg! He still refuses to drop the T1 chest pieces for my warlock and warrior. Grr!
Hey, is it just me, or is Delvar Ironfist next to worthless as a “bodyguard”? For a blood DK, he can’t hold aggro for shit, and if we end up with more than three mobs on us, he’s guaranteed to be dead by the end of the fight. I’ll pull a mob and Delvar will charge at it, and the mob will run right past him to get to me. By comparison, if I’m using Defender Ilona (a prot paladin), I’ll pull a mob and Ilona will immediately taunt it off me, and keep aggro no matter how much damage I’m putting out.
The direct Horde equivalent is not a tank at all, and she’s actually quite effective. I use her with my Arms warrior toon, where I don’t mind taking the hits and prefer not to risk her squishiness.
However, the Horde does have another “tank” bodyguard companion that’s legendary for being just plain bad at it. Aeda Brightdawn, a BE demonologist warlock bodyguard.
The much-vaunted “warlock toughness” thing just doesn’t apply here. She’ll AoE pull everything, taunt ineffectively, and then die, dumping all threat onto me. Yaay. To quote one of the comments in that WoWhead page:
I have never used her as a bodyguard since the first time I tried on my hunter, and decided I did not enjoy the taunt competition between my pet and my companion. Ruined positioning and got her killed way too often.
Stupid server shutdown deprived me of my last shot at the Brewfest Kodo this year.
Meh, I did a bunch of other stuff I can console myself with, and I’m about to start fishing up 120 Felblights… but still, pushing this off another year sucks.
Really enjoying Rarity, btw, so thanks for the recommendation.
Since it taps into the fairly accurate kill records kept for bosses, it can tell me with great precision that I’ve killed High Priestess Kilnara in Zul’Gurub over 200 times without the Swift Zulian Panther dropping. (For an aggregate probability of 89.97 percent that it should have by now…)
Between that and Handynotes for stuff like Tanaan Jungle goodies, WoW is almost too easy. Much less trial-and-effort.
Speaking of fishing, my level 62 DK was working on fishing up 100 Darkmoon Daggermaw, so that he could buy that damned treasure map … he ended up with some level 100 nelf warrior behind him offering 100g for 50 Darkmoon Daggermaw. I emoted at him, /NO
So he upped his offer to 200g for 50 fish. And then kept pushing. I ignored him after that. Effing level 100, spotting a level 62 DK and assuming that I was a new player desperate for gold. No, FU, this DK was rolled six years ago and is not my main and is not desperate for gold. And 100g or 200g is not worth the time I’ve spent fishing, thank you.
Plus, I’d already fished up four Bloated Wossnames, which got me more than 100g anyway.
I wound up fishing up about 350 Daggermaws over the weekend, enough to get the recipes, pets, and map. I hadn’t been to DF in months, not since I earned Exalted with them, so having something new for fishing was neat. I’m 8k away from the 100k level of “Got My Money On My Mind” achievement, so the gold in the Bloated Threshers were a nice bonus, 15-20g a pop, and I got about 8 of them. gnoitall, I think that’s part of the reason I avoid installing lots of addons. I kind of enjoyed stumbling onto the treasures on my own. Once there’s a giant icon on my map, it takes away all the fun and challenge. It makes you view getting all the treasures as just another thing to finish, rather than something to do gradually, if that makes sense.
Pretty sure I’ll be in despair when I see my Attumen kill count.
I found the same thing – I have much more luck with Ilona than with Delvar. My only gripe about Ilona is that she seems to have the largest ‘click on me’ area I’ve ever seen. There have been dozens of times when I’ve been trying to click on a chest, or a lootable body, and up pops her dialog box. Haven’t noticed the same with any of the other bodyguards.
You clearly haven’t played with your good buddy Tormmok. The dude is YUGE, and has serious personal space and attention-seeking issues. I think he’s the canonical reason for the Bodyguard Miniaturization Device.
“Hey, Tormmok, Buddy, please step back. I’m trying to loot here, not talk to you.”
Sorry to hear that, Rik. I hope you find something new soon.
I FINALLY got Huolon’s mount drop yesterday. Hallelujah.
I’m not done with Timeless Isle yet, but that’s a big, huge PITA gone. Now I can focus on Shaohao rep and finishing off Going to Need a Bigger Bag.
I also was lucky enough to stumble upon a mixed Horde/Alliance group mere moments before they took down Supreme Lord Kazzak. I died once. Was fun, would do again.
So, I probably asked way back when, but what is everybody’s main server?
Me: Lightbringer. The first character I rolled was a paladin, and I knew it was going to be a paladin, and having played WC2 and WC3, I naturally gravitated to Lightbringer.
My main Horde server: Cairne
My other servers:
Alexstrasza (Alliance, moved some characters there so I could play with Quasimodem.
Wyrmrest Accord: My Alliance RP server
Cenarion Circle: My Horde RP server
Yeah, I know that there are no rules requiring it, but I stick to one faction per server.
But that has resulted in some interesting stuff since CRZ was implemented … I’ve never played Alliance on Cairne, but Cairne got CRZ’d with Lightbringer … and that’s when I discovered that the Alliance players on Caire are a bunch of … erm, in order to avoids utilizing metaphors that might offend some fellow Dopers … "I would not enjoy playing with Alliance players on Cairne. Their CRZ’d comments were inappropriate on the Lightbringer server.
I also just discovered a graphics setting that I had not seen before. If you go to “System” and then to “Advanced”, there is a slider labeled, “Render Scale”.
I’ve already mentioned that my Mac’s video card has been officially unsupported since MoP. And while I was in the WoD beta, the game was completely unplayable, due to graphics problems.
Now, this far into WoD, I have discovered that moving that “Render Scale” slider from 100% to 75% results in a barely noticeable reduction in graphics quality, but improves my FPS from 20 to 50 in many places.
