I don’t THINK the expansion comes with any gametime.
It’s still $15 a month for gametime, $20 for the basic game (up through Panda) and $50 for Warlords of Draenor.
I usually pick up a 2-month card for $30 from Walmart or Gamestop when I’m getting low on time.
They were doing a thing for awhile (is it still available?) where if you pre-purchased WoD online, you’d get a 90 boost for one of your characters. If you bought the “deluxe” edition for $70 you’d get a 90 boost, a special mount (Dread Raven) and a special pet (Dread Hatchling).
The level 90 boost is a feature of WoD itself, you get it whenever you buy it, pre-purchasing just meant you got it early.
The digital deluxe version is still available too(it’s the same in-game stuff you get from the physical collectors edition).
Oh, that should be handy… I didn’t make it through MoP because I couldn’t muster up the interest to grind my main up to 85, and all my buddies want me to go raid with them…
At this late date, though, if you boost to 90, that toon won’t get immediate access to Level 90 spells and talents. You’ll have to do the (relatively easy, IMHO) Iron Invasion quests in the Blasted Lands in order to be granted those.
Weird, but true I guess. I boosted a 90 by pre-ordering months ago and I didn’t have that “limitation”. The only limitation I had was not having a damn clue how to play a Level 90 warlock.
gnoitall, for what it’s worth, if you decide to go after Alani, it will help recoup some, if not all of those losses.
Farming regular and rare mobs in the zone got me a crap ton of greens and grays worth vendoring, approximately 120 Ancient Guo-Lai Cache Keys, and a few dozen Treasures of the Vale (from both the Caches and rare mobs). I’m up approximately 8k gold and I now have learned or in my bank:
6 cooking recipes
2 JC designs
a ton of mogu cheese, vinegar, and Pandaren spices
4 stacks Windwool Cloth
2 stacks of Exotic Leather and 2 Magnificent Hides
40+ of most herbs
60 black and white Trillium Ore and 100 Ghost Iron Ore
2 stacks of Spirit Dust and 2 Sha crystals
5-6 random blue BOEs and a dozen BOP vendorable blues
350 Motes and 20 Spirits of Harmony
Enough relics to boost another toon to Exalted with Golden Lotus
Congrats on Invincible and the meta, Sara!
There’s a metric buttload of toons standing around in front of the DP. I dropped in to see what was happening and decided to hearth back to Stormwind instead and try after work tomorrow, just so my computer doesn’t try to launch WoW, get a load of the graphics work involved at the portal, and say, “Oh, HELL no!”
So what’s the excuse for PvP in this expansion? I know nothing about the story anymore, but I got the impression that after the Siege of Orgrimmar Varian peaced out with the Horde and is pretty friendly with Vol’jin’s Horde. Even the entrance to the Dark Portal had an Alliance/Horde coalition force waiting.
Having fun so far with WoD! Certainly is a big change from Pandaria, which is fine by me.
I’ve gotten my garrison, wandered around the greater part of Shadowmoon, and dinged 91 a few minutes ago. Ran through the first dungeon as well. Killed a few rares, gotten one item so far that is higher iLvl than my existing gear.
Even learned some new enchants and did a little archeology, though I haven’t gotten anything good from that as of yet.
Haven’t got my copy of the expansion yet, but after 9 years of WoW I don’t feel as much urgency as I used to. I’ll probably wait until my next paycheck. Draenor will still be there even if it takes me a few days to get there.
I started at about 11:00am EST (US) this morning and have had no significant issues going through the portal and doing the quests in the initial area, and moving forward to the next map. I’ve built the level 1 barracks at my garrison. I’ve had some 1-2s lag around some of the quest areas (like the boat salvage), even though there aren’t a lot of questers nearby (maybe 10-20?).
Lore-wise? I don’t think there is one, other than Wrynn’s little threat to “finish you” (speaking to Vol’jin) if the Horde “failed to act with honor”. (The ending cinematic after downing Garrosh.)
Of course, as with all PvP, the reason is “lulz, cuz I can”.
I’m stuck at Mission Probable; the Command Table doesn’t do anything when I click it.
Okay, so am I the only one who thinks this Garrison is stupid as hell? Why am I building a whole city just for myself IN A GAME THAT’S ALL ABOUT NEEDING OTHER PEOPLE TO GET SHIT DONE???
Just like LFG and guild levels put people off, personalized cities like this won’t do anything to help the game foster a sense of community, and it’s really that shared experience that keeps games alive.
So far I’m very much not impressed with this xpac.
