Warning: Liberal use of platform boots and white spandex ahead

Yup, I just got back from seeing Mamma Mia, the musical entirely based on ABBA songs. I have never been a fan, I was more the type to crack my ribs at Metallica shows as a teenager, but I tagged along with some friends and ended up having a great time. The show was cool, the music was great, the costumes were amazingly cheesy, but in a good way. I’ve never seen a crowd of fortysomethings dancing in the aisles of the theater before, but they were tonight.

I was really impressed by how well they were able to use the songs to serve the story. One of the funniest was “Lay All Your Love on Me”, sung by a chorus of guys dancing in wetsuits, snorkels, and fins. Definitely a cream-puff of a show.

I can only hope that you know how diseased your words sound. Having said that, I’ll say it really seems as if you had a terrific time. Serious cheese (sorry, a band already has that name) is an amazing sort of thing when executed correctly (as in a firing squad). Sorry, but I just had to agree with you in this strange sort of way.
