Just a few short hours ago we banned Jack Dean Tyler. I’m not going to go into the reasons right now, but you all need to know this.
Jack has since seen fit to send e-mail to all of the moderators and administrators with a virus attached to it. If you receive mail from him, do not open it. The address he sent this from is “Jack Tyler [jdt123@earthlink.net].” He may have other accounts elsewhere, be careful when opening any e-mail from unknown sources.
The virus he sent was identified by Manhattan as “The virus WScript.KakWorm was detected in an Internet transmission using the BINARY protocol.”
Please be careful, folks and now would be a damned good time to get an update of your virus definition file from whatever source you use.
Since this seems to be an apart retaliation and deliberate distribution of a virus, may I suggest–if you haven’t already–emailing Earthlink. I would imagine that intentionally spreading a virus is a violation of TOS.
I know for a fact that Earthlink will cut off his account and do a perm ban on any credit cards in his name from ever starting an account again.
Taken from their site:
"EarthLink requests that anyone who believes that there is a violation of this AUP direct the information to Director-Abuse Department, at: abuse@earthlink.net.
If available, please provide the following information:
-The IP address used to commit the alleged violation
-The date and time of the alleged violation, including the time zone or offset from GMT
-Evidence of the alleged violation
-Email with full header information provides all of the above, as do syslog files. Other situations will require different methods of providing the above information."
Don’t let this guy get away with it, they may even prosecute him (seeings how he broke the law and all).
After I’ve cooled off a bit and re-read my OP, it appears that I’ve accused Jack of purposely sending this virus. That’s would be an unfair assumption on my part and I regret that. I do not actually know whether he’s done this on purpose or not. Apparently, this virus is currently enjoying a rather wide distribution.
